Comb up your fringe, tie your hair up in a low simple pony tail and making sure that you push up the back of your hair to make it ‘protude’ a little while tying your hair (put some hair spray to secure this area). Use a scarf or bandana with cute prints like yellow polka dots and tie it around your head like a head band, covering the fringe. Latest Beauty Cosmetic products Guide 2010

Make-up has come a long way since its origin. Cosmetics that are widely known today were not so common yesterday. Similarly, the products we use today may not be here tomorrow. Today it is all about style that is healthy and economical. Staying healthy is the major concern therefore people are now increasingly relying on mineral makeup. If basic cosmetics are organic in nature, such as mineral foundation, you can save yourself from a lot of harm causing chemicals.

The modern cosmetics available in the market today have many stories and myths associated with them. Most of them are totally false, but still believed to be true. A few of them are listed below:

• Cosmeceutical are better than other cosmetic companies: A general perception about this may be that the word cosmeceutical would be a combination of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals so it has to be better for the skin. However, this may not be true. More pharmaceuticals may also mean more chemicals and eventually, more harm to your skin. Likewise, according to FDA, there is no such thing as “cosmeceutical”. It is just a marketing term used to attract the audience. Watch out!

• Everything that is recommended by dermatologists has to work: This may be another marketing term to attract the target audience. Not every product that lists ‘dermatologists tested’ may actually be tested by dermatologists. In fact, very little number of such products is in reality tested by the dermatologists themselves.

• Natural products are undoubtedly the best products: Although this may be surprising to a lot of people, but not all natural ingredients in cosmetics might be good for your skin. There are a lot of natural products which may generate some kind of itching on your skin. Moreover, just because a product lists that it is natural does not mean that it has to be natural.

• All allergic symptoms might be cured from hypoallergenic products: The reasoning to prove this myth wrong is just common sense. How can be your skin type and allergies be similar to the other people? You might have some common allergies but not all might be common. Similarly, what may suit anyone else might not suit you. Just because a product is hypoallergenic, it does not mean it will cure all your allergies. Keep in mind that different allergies will be cured by different products.

• Mineral oil is not good for skin: This myth may be commonly observed among people because they might believe mineral oil is derived from crude oil and it will smother the skin as it will create an oil layer on your skin. This is completely wrong! There are no safer cosmetics other than these organic products. They do keep the air away from the skin but that is a general behavior of any antioxidant product. The skin does not suffocate at all! Similarly, such products are also very good healers as they are made up of organic ingredients therefore; no other cosmetics are safer than these cosmetics.

Top Spa Trends – Wellness Spa Equipment, Organic Skin Care and Customized Spa Services

The ever-increasing demand for spas that provide health maintenance in addition to relaxation and beauty services has changed the way spas do business. Many spa visitors are not just looking to be pampered. They want healthy living, fitness, personal growth, eco friendly, natural pain relief, weight loss, organic skin care programs and more. This shift is creating some fascinating new spa therapy trends that indicate consumer choice is a high priority. In today’s market spa-goers want superior quality equipment, educated service providers with the highest credentials and a gorgeous location with a luxurious, comfortable atmosphere. Organic Skin Care Products and Organic Massage Therapy Oils, Creams and Lotions

Around the world people are thinking more about the beauty and skin care products they put on and in their bodies. Successful spas must think not only about the quality of their estheticians, massage therapists and other staff, but also about the quality of the products they use. Organic skin care treatments, such as organic body wraps, facials, footbaths and more are in high demand.

Massage therapists are also now using organic massage therapy oils, creams, lotions and muscle rubs made with organic ingredients such as natural healing herbs and therapeutic essential oils. According to the HealingLifestyles.com article “Spa Trends 2010 The Evolved Spa” by writer Margie Goldsmith, Tracy Lee, vice president of spa development for Auberge Resorts says, “Spas are positioning themselves with more green products, and many skincare companies are getting rid of paraffins and sulfites. Today’s savvy spa consumer does not blindly accept the label, ‘all natural.’ A product needs to be greener, more pure, and must provide more proof.”

What is a Fashion Designer's Salary? - Fashion Designer's pay scale

Fashion Designer Salaries – A Desirable Career With High Pay.

Fashion design is a career choice desired by many. The glamour, creativity, and earning potential, along with names such as Tommy Hilfiger, Prada, Mark James, and Yves Saint Laurent, convey visions of glamorous clothes, red carpet events, celebrities, fame, and big bucks. However, the reality could not be farther from the truth. Those who choose careers in fashion design have beginning salaries below $30,000 a year; however, hard work, resolve, creativity, and the ability to stand out, can result in earning millions during the course of a career.

People associate fashion design with high profile designers who lend their name to the clothes we wear. Those who enjoy the world of fashion, but require job and income stability, have more secure opportunities available. Employment abounds in mass marketing and manufacturing. These garments are designed for retail and discount chains. As middle class demands increase for fashionable, yet affordable, clothing, these designers and manufacturers continue to grow in popularity. Beginning salaries in mass marketing average $30,000 a year; however, creating designs that are unique and functional, leads to potential income of $78, 000 or more per year.

Designer salaries are often dictated by employment. As mentioned above, designers who work for manufacturers can expect to make between $56,000 and $73,000 a year.

Design firms, franchises, universities, and design houses offer middle road salaries; somewhere between, $45,000 and $51,000 annual income.

Designers who choose the path of self-employment begin with a salary of $35,000 a year, but it is often these designers who have the greatest earning potential. While rare, these designers often create have their own label and design houses; their name brand label will command millions.

Employment location influences the salary of fashion designers. Unlike other industries, fashion design is focused in major U.S. cities. The greatest earning potential is found in cities such as San Francisco ($69,000 a year), Dallas ($67,000 a year), Los Angeles ($57,000 a year), Seattle ($56,000 a year) Miami ($45,000) and Chicago ($43,000 a year). Interestingly, although considered the design capital of the world, New York has third place honors with salaries averaging $63,000 annually. New York is inundated with new designers each year. Salaries are kept low, especially for those new to the industry, to test their mettle, and commitment to the industry.

Other factors that determine salary are education and experience. Designers, who have graduated from esteemed universities and design schools, garner higher salaries. Creativity, talent, and reputation allow a designer to stand out amongst competitors, and further increases income potential. Designers who respect their clients and employees have higher incomes and do not forget a client base of well known celebrities and headliners will boost a designer to the top of the salary scale.

As with any career choice, many factors including education, drive, creativity, location, and just plain hard work, will ultimately determine lifetime income for a fashion designer. For those willing to take risks, and search for prime opportunities, life time income is only limited by creativity and imagination.

Fashion design colleges : How to choose fashion design school

A successful future in the fashion design industry depends on right choice of school to attend. Although fashion design is not one of the more popular careers to pursue, if your talents lie in this field, there is ample opportunity awaiting you. However, the first thing to hurdle is your choice of school.
Fashion Design College
When choosing a fashion design school, consider the following factors.

Area of Focus

Look into the nature of the school. Is it solely a fashion design school or does it offer other courses. Is this school well-known for its emphasis on fashion design?

Fashion design schools are few and far between. This makes it harder to choose one that fits your bill. Your first task will be to find a reputable school that will aid you in your training.

Also, look into whether the school participates in any fashion design competition or has accomplished anything of reknown in the industry. This is a sure sign of their commitment to the fashion arts its education among students.

Different schools have different strengths, find a school that plays to your strengths and has specialization in the field of your choice.

For example, you might choose a very well-know fashion design school only to find out that they specialize in childrens’ clothing, while the field of your choice is adult formal wear. This could diffuse your interests, and dull your specialization.

Make sure you know what field the school you are scouting focuses on. This will help you specialize in that area too.

Alumni and Job Placements

Does the college offer job placement assistance? And has the alumni from this school gone on to be successful professionals? Always learn from other’s previous experience. If you see that those that had gone through this school before you received proper training and are successful in their field, that is an indication of a good school.

Most of these reputable schools have numerous connections in the graphic arts industry. They usually offer job placement services. You may want to consider this when choosing a school.

It would do no harm to start looking at the educational background of your admired fashion designer. Checking out the schools they came from will give an idea of the sort of training these artists went through. From here, you may make decisions as to whether you would like to choose the same school as they did.

Curriculum

You must assess whether the curriculum is relevant to you field of study. You may want to compare the curricula of different schools to see which offers the best form of education.

It would also be wise to check the quality of the teaching staff at that school. Having established artists who teach at a fashion design school is also an indication of a good training program.

Student to Teacher Ratio

Ask yourself: how big are the classes and how many teachers and classes are available at this school before you choose it. The more the students the lesser the efficacy of the teacher. However, if there are too few students per teacher, that could tell of a different problem – that of quality. If this is the case, it may be that the school is not popular or is suffering from anemic academic performance.

Accreditation

Accreditation means the school has passed a certain standards of educational quality. Accreditation is performed by the U.S. Department of Education. Fashion design schools must be accredited to prove their level of competence.

Check with the State Postsecondary School Licensing Bureau to see if the college you are investigating is accredited. Also, check National Approval and Accreditation for this concern.

Cost

Some people may proclaim that to obtain their education, they would spare no coin. Unfortunately, it also pays to be practical in your choice of fashion design school. If the school you choose has a tuition rate that is beyond your financial capability, you might find yourself working unable to pursue your studies consistently due to the financial stress which may lead you to look for part-time work.

Scholarships

You might want to consider whether the design school you are looking at offers any scholarships. You also might want to know the terms to them too. Some schools offer scholarships based on academic performance. Some offer them based on fashion design competitions they hold regularly.

Your choice of school is an investment that will last you a lifetime. Proper care and investigation in choosing such is truly important. When you are comfortable with your choice of fashion design schools, you can now chart your path towards a successful career.

Laser skin treatment procedure - Side effects and potential risks

A laser skin treatment is a relatively new technology that surgeons have only recently begun using. It is when the surgeons utilize lasers (containing carbon dioxide) to vaporize the skin’s upper layers, consequently allowing a new layer of skin to form. The technique is commonly used to fine tune wrinkles and various face lines, especially around the eyes and the mouth. What is great about the laser skin treatment is that it can be used at any part of the body, including damaged areas, as the laser beam is extremely precise. This allows some forms of scars and burns to be faint or less noticeable. Also, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy, which use pulses of the laser light, is used to treat scars such as acne scars and various veins and stains.

Also known as a laser peel, the laser skin treatment create similar effects as chemical peels. Basically, the technique will
remove the top layer of the skin. Then, as the dermis (the bottom half of your skin) is revealed, a new top layer of skin that is smooth and soft will be recreated.

Usually a single laser skin treatment does not take so long. Conducted under anesthetic and sedation, the whole process can take from a few minutes to a couple hours (considering that the whole face is being treated). As is the case, recovery time varies quite drastically. Those who did not have the laser dig very deep might have a short (or possibly even no) downtime. However, those who did undergo deep laser treatments might have a slightly longer recovery time. Regardless of the depth though, aftercare is necessary. Laser treatments of all types, including the laser skin treatment, are very precise. There hardly is any bleeding and thus there is hardly any discomfort afterwards.
Behind the Laser Skin Treatment Process

After having the local anesthetic material applied on the skin area that is to be treated (usually a day prior to the treatment), your face is then cleansed again, which can take a few minutes to a few hours depending on the size of the area being treated. Usually, when doing a small treatment job, the laser will only penetrate up to the epidermis or the papillary dermis. However, for deeper operations, it may even penetrate up to the upper levels of the reticulas dermis. This is what is great about laser skin treatment; it allows the surgeon to be very flexible when dealing with the skin that needs to be treated, as all areas, depending on whether it is a scar or a deep wrinkle, needs to be treated at different levels.

After the treatment, the surgeon will apply some antibiotic ointment to avoid any infection before the top layer of the skin is back to normal. In rare cases, there might be swelling too, in which case, ice packs are used to limit it along with some painkiller if there are any discomforts. For the first few weeks after the treatment, mild moisturizer such as cream will need to be used to prevent the skin from drying out. Any other products that could get onto the skin, such as shampoo, should also be as mild as possible. Like with all skin treatment, the patient is also suggested to stay out of direct sunlight by wearing a strong sunblock cream.
Possible Risks Behind Laser Skin Treatment.

Usually, laser skin treatment is a very safe treatment for all people. However, those with black, brown, or olive skin might face some difficulties, as the treatment can trigger the change in the original pigment. Also, if the patient took accutane in the last 18 months or is prone to keloid scarring, there is a greater likelihood that they might catch an infection. In rare cases, a treatment can also provoke a new cold or make the patient feel drowsy. Swelling and red and pink spots are a possibility too, although very temporary. Nonetheless, as anesthetic products are used with the treatment, the treatment is usually very safe and risk free.

Latest Mineral Makeup for women

Here’s Crissy, one of our regular contributors to The Mineral Makeup Blog, for her review of Aromaleigh Foundations, and further comparing the two formulas, Voile and Glissade :

Mineral Makeup brands have their own line of foundation. Some of these brands have mineral makeup foundations in different forms, such as pressed minerals, loose minerals and liquid minerals. Loose minerals is known as the purest form of mineral makeup, and most mineral makeup foundations fall under that form. However, only a number of brands can proudly say that they have different formulas under loose minerals. Aromaleigh happens to be one of them.

Aromaleigh has two kinds of foundation formulations, namely Voile and Glissade. Voile claims to have similar coverage to brands such as Youngblood, Bare Escentuals, Jane Iredale and GloMinerals, without the added shine that some people are not fond of. Glissade was formulated for people with dry skin and those sensitive to Bismuth Oxychloride found in some brands of foundations.

I was lucky enough to get a sample of Voile and Glissade in the same shade, so I tested each sample on different sides of my face. Voile 3YL on the left side and Glissade 3YL on the right. The moment I applied Voile, I was surprised with the lightness of the product. The finish was light, yet it was matte. I first thought MMU foundations with light coverage always had a glowy finish, which was not the case with Voile. Glissade was a different story. Even if I used a flat top brush with natural hairs, the foundation felt smooth and silky. The minerals were coated with silicone, thus giving you foundation that glides over your skin.

After applying both foundations, I noticed that the left side of my face (where Voile was applied) appeared to be a little lighter than the right side (where Glissade was applied). There was also a difference in coverage. Voile was sheerer than Glissade. When you try to touch your face, Voile feels very light and airy while Glissade was silky and velvety. The real test was when I left the foundation on my face for nine hours. The right side of my face was oilier than my left side. Both formulas adhered to my skin when I thought one or both foundations will slide off my face in a few hours.

I actually liked both foundations. I have combination skin, so there are times my face is drier or oiler than usual. I can use Voile during my “good skin” days and use Glissade is my face is unusually dry. I recommend using Voile if you like the light coverage without the added shine of other MMU brands and Glissade if you have drier skin.

Take note, I have mentioned that the same shade in each formulation is not the same. But there’s no need to worry. Aromaleigh comes in dozens of shades to suit every skintone and undertone. Do have fun when trying out the different formulas and shades of foundation that Aromaleigh has to offer. Their samples are generous too, it contains ½ teaspoon of minerals in a labeled Ziploc bag.

Audrey Hepburn's black Givenchy dress tops fashion list

Audrey Hepburn's black Givenchy dress from Breakfast At Tiffany's is top of the frocks, a poll found today.

The smart gown which she wore as Holly Golightly in the ever-popular film was judged greatest female screen outfit.
                                                      Audrey Hepburn's Photo
The survey, conducted by DVD rental film Lovefilm to mark the release of Sex And The City tomorrow, found Ursula Andress's bikini from Dr No was in the top five.

Hepburn's top gown showed that age was no bar to glamour - her outfit made its appearance almost half a century ago in 1961. One of the three dresses produced for the film sold for more than £400,000 at auction four years ago.

Style queen Hepburn landed a second entry at number six with the white dress and bonnet combo she wore at the races in My Fair Lady.

Runner-up outfit - the floor-length emerald green Jacqueline Durran-designed dress worn by Keira Knightley in Atonement - also had a vintage touch. Although the film dates back only to 2007, the scene in which it features was set in the 1930s.

Marilyn Monroe's cheeky white dress from The Seven Year Itch - which famously blows up as she crosses a subway grating - was placed third.

Andress's beachwear - the briefest outfit on the list - was placed fourth, although running a close second in the skimpy stakes is Raquel Welch's leather and fur bikini from One Million Years BC.

Style icon Sarah Jessica Parker is ranked 10th for the Vivienne Westwood wedding dress for the first Sex And The City movie.

Lovefilm editor Helen Cowley said: "Audrey Hepburn has truly made that little black dress a fashion staple which has stood the test of time despite competition from some of the most stylish females around.

"As Sarah Jessica Parker and co-stars prepare to provide the next fashion fix for women everywhere, it'll be interesting to see if their latest threads can make the same impact."

Sex And The City 2 has its UK premiere tonight in London

World's most famous luggage brand opens a landmark store in London

As the world's most famous luggage brand opens a landmark store in London, Patrick-Louis Vuitton tells Susannah Frankel why customers can't get enough LV

An immaculately be-suited, bespectacled and discreetly fragrant Patrick-Louis Vuitton sits at a leather-topped table in the reception area of London's newly opened Louis Vuitton store – or "maison", as the powers-that-be would have it be known.

This, double the size that it was before any refurbishment started, is, according to architect Peter Marino, the most luxurious example of its kind in the world. Certainly, it's a far cry from the original and rather more low-key London outlet that first welcomed discerning travellers in this city 125 years ago.

"Fantastique!" says M Vuitton, when asked, in one word, to sum up the Louis Vuitton heritage. And indeed it is.Today, a Michael Landy kinetic sculpture that the artist himself has merrily described as made out of "junk" rubs shoulders with a honey-coloured leather briefcase lined in palest rose silk that once belonged to Princess Margaret – it still bears her handwritten name tag. In a similar vein, a suitably iconoclastic display of women's ready-to-wear – mannequins with bags on their heads wear "traveller"- inspired denim hotpants stamped with the famous LV logo, or even a Louis Vuitton nurse's uniform – is only a floor away from a wall of antique Louis Vuitton trunks dating back a century and more. As for the stairway, it's glass, embedded with an ever-changing, movement-sensitive LED display that flickers into rainbow-coloured life at the merest hint of a footfall.

Further testimony to the Louis Vuitton spirit of effortlessly combining innovation and a history steeped in fine craftsmanship is a "bag bar" where shoppers sit on stools and watch the latest LV 'it' accessories go by, as if on the world's most glamorous conveyor belt, and a polished marble floor is inlaid with hand-carved flowers. A caviar case – complete with gleaming stamped glass saucers and mother-of-pearl spoons – is laid out on one table; a Louis Vuitton poker case on another. There's costume jewellery – bling! Fine jewellery – bling! bling! High jewellery – mega-bling, and much of it costing over the £2m mark. And all on one floor.

Even at its most reasonable price point, this may not be the most accessible range of product the world has ever known. There is, however, a peculiarly contemporary democracy to the fact that it is under a single roof. That'll be a circular, mirrored, "breathing" roof if madam – or indeed sir – happens to visit the corner reserved for eyewear.

Not everything in this best of all possible (consumer) worlds is open to all, however. A status name is a status name, however upbeat and full of the joys it may be – and this is quite as upbeat and full of the joys as it is possible to imagine. There's a book store where limited-edition art publications are on offer, watches, men's wear, women's wear and, of course, more luggage than anyone might ever dream of for public consumption and even just prying eyes. It's not unlike the world's most upscale playground. VIP customers, though, will be whisked quietly up to the more sedate top floor, where a private apartment of interconnecting sitting rooms has walls lined with fine art, courtesy of superstar names including Jean-Michel Basquiat and Jeff Koons.

And in the midst of it all sits M Vuitton, the great-great-grandson of Louis, arguably the most industrious boy in French fashion history. Folklore has it that the man who founded this world-famous empire left the family home in the Jura region of France aged not quite 14, in 1835. Clad, in true fairy- tale style, in hobnail boots and a craftsman's tunic, he travelled on foot for no fewer than two years before arriving in Paris and undergoing an apprenticeship with one Monsieur Marechal, wooden-box maker par excellence. The Vuitton family hails from a long line of millers, carpenters and joiners which, even now, underpins the spectacularly successful business.

For his part, Patrick-Louis entered the company in 1973 at the behest of his grandmother. "She was the wife of Gaston-Louis Vuitton, the third generation, who wrote a letter to my father asking me to come to the Asnières workshop," he says. And so, for more than 20 years, Patrick-Louis Vuitton climbed up through the ranks crafting hand-finished luggage, much of which went on to be sold on the shop floor, before managing its manufacture and finally being given the title of head of special orders that he retains to this day. Great-great-grand-father Louis Vuitton's own big break came in 1853, when he was awarded the task of transporting Empress Eugenie's wardrobe.

The Spanish-born wife of Emperor Napoleon III was no wallflower, dressed in silks, satins and cumbersome horsehair petticoats crinolines of the day– all of which accompanied her on her travels. In 1854, her case maker set up in his own name, by that point also catering to her coterie of friends. Louis Vuitton gave the world first the revolutionary flat-top trunk – until then lids were dome shaped – that enabled the privileged classes to neatly stack their baggage for ease of transportation. Then came a waterproof, varnished-canvas exterior that was both lighter and less pungent than leather, ensuring no unseemly odour permeated any belongings. Later, Louis Vuitton introduced the tall trunk, an upright affair not unlike a travelling wardrobe. It is available to this day, to those prepared to spend upwards of £10,000 for the privilege. Inside any baggage were bespoke wooden compartments separating gloves, say, from shoes, gowns and the aforementioned underpinnings, all of which varied to suit each individual client's needs.

Of course, much has changed since that time. First and foremost, in 1990, Louis Vuitton was acquired by LVMH (Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton), the world's largest luxury goods conglomerate. It has gone on to become the most profitable brand in the business by far, reporting double-digit growth in the first quarter of this year – and this despite an unstable economic climate.

Equally, it is today the famous LV monogram that attracts the most attention, found finishing everything from totes and purses to (a sign of modern times if ever there was one) cases on wheels. In 1997, Marc Jacobs was employed to introduce women's and men's clothing to the brand, which he has done to suitably high-profile effect. In his hands, these collections may, at first sight, seem irreverent. But they are inevitably connected to the Louis Vuitton heritage, however oblique his references may seem.

The designer, not at all backwards in coming forward, has also duly customised the famous logo with glossy cherries, neon graffiti and even magic mushrooms – all of which have sold like the proverbial hot cakes, introducing a younger and more fashion-conscious customer to the fold. Then there are the Louis Vuitton ad campaigns. A flexing of fashionable muscle that is second to none, these have by now featured everyone from Kate Moss to Mikhail Gorbachev, and Madonna to Maradona. Such marketing has reaped rewards. If the figures at Louis Vuitton didn't speak for themselves, the fact that shoppers regularly queue outside stores the world over is surely proof that this is a winning formula.

Still, Patrick-Louis, who as well as ensuring that a less ephemeral customer remains part of the story also acts as ambassador for the brand, insists that the core values of Louis Vuitton are intact.

"We have a wider range of product – ready-to-wear, watches, jewellery – than we did 30 or 40 years ago," he says, "but the spirit is the same. In each product we have an extraordinary mix of tradition and innovation. You can see yourself in this store. We have heritage trunks that are shown alongside the new products and you don't feel like there's any delineation between them. They are perfect together."

He himself spends his time between the Louis Vuitton workshop and in consultation with private clients. Among these is a woman who would rather drink from her own crystal champagne flutes than airplane glasses when she travels, for whom he has made one special case, and "a very nice English man" who insists on drawers in his baggage conceived to hold a perfectly matching shirt, tie and cuff links for ease of daily dress.

Such customers are never named – that would be nothing short of uncouth. It's perhaps not surprising, therefore, that the rather more banal issue of distinguishing counterfeit product from the real thing is easily dealt with by M Vuitton.
